Ballinahown Village
Ballinahown is a picturesque village situated on the borders of Westmeath and Offaly on the main route to the south-N62.
As a community we are very active in our community activities and have good reason to be very pleased with our recent result in winning the County Westmeath Tidy Towns for the fifth year in a row. Our score in the competition is 286 points and is in the top thirty villages in the Country. We now compare in terms of points with Adare in County Limerick and previous winner Ardagh in County Longford.
Over the past 18 years Ballinahown Village has been transformed physically, mentally and environmentally.
18 years ago Ballinahown was a shabby village with broken down walls, overgrown hedges, drab buildings and community lacking enthusiasm and motivation.
Thankfully today we are a different community, recognising that ‘partnership’ as having been instrumental to our success.
We in Ballinahown Development have very good organisational skills, setting goals with the relevant bodies and meeting these in terms of development budgets and achieving the work on the ground.
We also have worked very successfully with our Fas community employment scheme, Leader Company and Westmeath County Council.
